(Vernon) The Vernon Vipers are pleased to announce the commitment of 20 year old defenceman Brent Saukarookoff to the club for next season. The product of Winfield BC has not played since 2003-2004 when he was property of the Merritt Centennials. During that season Brent would record 11 goals and 24 assists in 57 games as he would lead all rookie defenceman in goals that year.
Brent Saukarookoff on wanting to come back and play in Vernon: “I quit for two years to get away from the game and that gave me a chance to think about what I wanted to do and I’ve decided that I want to come back and play and I’m excited about becoming a Viper.”
Brent Saukarookoff on what he brings to the table: “I’m a smart offensive defenceman that has a good shot and skates pretty well and I’m looking forward to getting back on the ice this season”
General Manager Troy Mick is thrilled about the addition of Saukarookoff. “Brent has shown before that he has the ability to be a top end player at our level and with the gap left by the departure of Chay Genoway and Andy Zulyniak we feel that Brent can help fill that Gap for our club.”
